Minima 4 – Frederic Boucher

The difficulty ramps up a bit with this one. I spent more time than I’d like to admit trying to figure out how to pack this thing. Over and over, I completed the same moves to no avail. I was pretty sure I knew what to do, but I just couldn’t figure out how to get the stinking piece into the place I wanted it to go.

These two windows on the face should not be ignored.

There’s 4 pieces to this one that make up 12 voxels, so again there are no voids. All the windows are full size and all must be utilized to complete the puzzle. If you are trying to solve it and ignoring a window, then you are not doing it correctly. This is advice that I ignored as I tried the same sequence over and over hoping that I’d missed something. Turns out I was indeed missing something, but it wasn’t a specific rotation, it was a new type of move that isn’t seen in the first 3 minima puzzles. So once again, a new puzzle with a new move. Store this one in your back pocket – you may see it again.

Overall, this one follows the same themes as before. There is one tricky piece and once that’s in place, the rest are straightforward.

This one could take a while for some – I know it did for me.
